[ARCHIVED] City of Newburgh Seeks Members for the Arts & Cultural Commission

The City of Newburgh is seeking volunteers to serve on the Arts and Cultural Commission (NACC).  Individuals interested in volunteering must apply by August 18 2023. Appointment to the NACC is by the City Council. Appointed individuals will fill the remaining portion of any unexpired term or a full term of three years. City of Newburgh residency or a demonstrated investment in the City of Newburgh is a requirement to join.

The Arts & Cultural Commission is responsible for advising and making recommendations to the City government and its agencies on issues related to the development of art and culture; insuring public funding for the arts and arts education; promoting arts and culture as an integral part of community life; fostering a creative environment reflective of the multicultural nature of the City of Newburgh and to guarantee equal access to the arts; enhancing access to, appreciation of and participation in the arts for all persons; providing more educational opportunities for all persons to learn about the arts, and increasing the role played by the arts in education in all forms.

The NACC meets in-person on the third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Heritage Center, 123 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings.

Paper copies of the application are available in the office of the City Clerk at 83 Broadway, Newburgh, NY 12550. Applicants may submit a letter of intent in lieu of an application. The letter of intent must contain answers to the questions found in the application available online or in the office of the City Clerk.
