The City of Newburgh is seeking volunteers to serve on the Arts and Cultural Commission to fill existing vacancies and seven expired/expiring terms. Individuals interested in volunteering must apply by July 15, 2022.
The Arts & Cultural Commission is responsible for advising and making recommendations to the City government and its agencies on issues related to the development of art and culture; insuring public funding for the arts and arts education; promoting arts and culture as an integral part of community life; fostering a creative environment reflective of the multicultural nature of the City of Newburgh and to guarantee equal access to the arts; enhancing access to, appreciation of and participation in the arts for all persons; providing more educational opportunities for all persons to learn about the arts, and increasing the role played by the arts in education in all forms.
The Arts & Cultural Commission currently meets on the first Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Newburgh Free Library, 124 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550. Appointment to the Arts and Cultural Commission is by the City Council. Appointed individuals will fill the remaining portion of any unexpired term or a full term of one, two or three years.

Paper copies of the application are available in the office of the City Clerk at 83 Broadway, Newburgh, NY 12550. Applicants may submit a letter of intent in lieu of an application. The letter of intent must contain answers to the questions found in the application available online or in the office of the City Clerk.
