The City of Newburgh Recreation Department is proud to announce the launch of the 2022 Summer Basketball League for the youth in grades K-8!

Beginning on June 28 through August 4, the Summer Basketball League will host three basketball divisions on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Delano-Hitch Basketball Courts.

The first division, for children in grades k-2, will run from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The second division, for children in grades 3-5, will run from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The third division, for children in grades 6-8, will run from 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

For a fee of $50 ($60 for non-residents) children can learn the fundamentals and proper techniques of basketball with coaches on site to help and instruct them in anything from:

  • Ball-handling
  • Dribbling
  • Passing/shooting
  • & defending

Registered participants will be provided with jerseys and have several opportunities to fulfill their basketball potential in a fun filled environment through a series of games. At the end of the league, all participants will be provided with a medal.

Participants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and must be properly equipped with appropriate foot attire. Parents/guardians are responsible for providing their child with water, no eating or drinking of other liquids on the courts are allowed.

Parents must bring their child’s birth certificate to register. Parents whose children were born in the City of Newburgh can obtain a copy of their child’s birth certificate at the City Clerk’s office located at 83 Broadway in Newburgh, NY, 12550.

Register in-person at the Activity Center, 401 Washington Street, Newburgh, NY 12550 or online at the Recreation Department website. Registration is open and there is a maximum enrollment capacity.

Parents can register their child the day of the event but pre-registration is encouraged.

Participants must bring their own equipment. Limited equipment will be made available for those in need.
