Impounded/Towed Vehicles

Please call the City of Newburgh Department Police Department at 845-569-7405 and notify the representative that your vehicle is impounded. Any outstanding tickets under the registered owners name and/or titled owners name must be paid to obtain a Release Form. Tickets can be paid online or in-person at City Hall, 83 Broadway, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Once the Release Form is obtained, contact the Department of Public Works at 845-565-3297 for Towing and Storage Fees. Money Order or Certified Bank Check are the only forms of payment accepted and must be made payable to the "City of Newburgh." The hours of operation for the Department of Public Works are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

If the Police Department has placed a hold on the vehicle you will also need written authorization for the vehicle to be released. Impounded Vehicles must be registered and insured to be driven away, if not, vehicles must be towed from City Property. If your vehicle has been impounded or towed by a private tow company, you will only be notified of the company's name when the Release Form is obtained.
