Obtaining Police Records / Reports

Police records/reports may be obtained at the City of Newburgh Police Department:

The Records Division is responsible for maintaining all reports completed by the City of Newburgh Police Department, including Motor Vehicle Accidents, Incident Reports, and Arrest Reports. Copies of these report may be obtained during normal business hours. Proper ID is required and authorization under the Freedom of Information Act may be required. There is a fee of $.25 per page. The hours of operation for the Records Division are Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. 

Requests for police records and reports may also be made by calling the records department at 845-569-7538. Please provide as much information as possible including the name, date, location, type of record, who is requesting the record/report, and a contact phone number. If the record can be produced you will need to make arrangements to pick it up during business hours or provide a self-addressed stamped envelope for mailing. Due to security reasons, we cannot email or fax reports.

 Arrest and criminal history can be obtained only from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The fees are subject to change but the instructions to do so are contained here in the Civilian Record Review document (PDF).
