The City of Newburgh owns a Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 2 Renwick Street in the City of Newburgh. This Wastewater Treatment Plant is operated by a contract operator, INFRAMARK Water Infrastructure Operations. INFRAMARK also monitors and maintains the various combined sewer diversion structures located along the east side of the City. These diversion structures discharge combined sewer to the Hudson River during wet weather events.
The City of Newburgh is currently operating under a consent order with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to implement its Long Term CSO Control Plan which includes the construction of various large-scale wastewater infrastructure projects over a 15 year timeline for the purpose of reducing the frequency and duration of combined sewer overflows to the Hudson River.
