Programa de Mejorías para Newburgh
The City of Newburgh Department of Planning and Development recently received a $300,000 matching grant from the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) to fund the Home Upgrade Project. The project provides grants to assist homeowners with up to two units in correcting code violations, structural defects, and installing water and/or sewer laterals. (View 2/29/08 Press Release.)
The following eligibility criteria apply:
- The properties must be owner-occupied.
- Homeowners must earn between 80% and 112% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
- Single- or two-family homes qualify.
- The City will fund up to 60% of the improvements, the remainder to be paid by the homeowner.
- The maximum grant amount per home is $10,000.

- Application must be submitted by May 1, 2008.
- Improvements must be completed by November 15, 2008.
