Artist Support & Advocacy
|
- Survey the needs of Newburgh's artists.
- Facilitate the convening of the City's artists and support their organization as a community.
- Develop a database of Newburgh's artists.
- Develop and secure City Council approval of zoning and code amendments that encourage artistic practice and presentation.

Events & Programs |
- Develop and present arts programs.
- Promote and support arts programs in the City sponsored by other organizations.
- Present a major cultural event.

Youth, Education & Community Outreach |
- Develop arts education programs for youth.
- Support and enhance exisiting arts education and history programs.

Funding Mechanisms
|
- Develop funding sources for Commission programs and activities.
- Develop and secure City Council approval of legislation authorizing "Percent for Art" funding for Arts Commission programs.

Nominations
|
- Nominate officers to be voted upon by the Commission.
- Recommend candidates to be recommended for appointment to the Commission by the City Council.

Promotion & Marketing
|
- Market and promote existing events in Newburgh.
- Create and maintain an on-line Arts Calendar to draw visitors and artists that includes an open discussion forum.
- Develop a logo.
- Create a web-site for arts and culture.
- Develop a regular newsletter.
- Take steps to restore weekend runs of the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry.
